4 Types of Eating

Which type of eating do you do on a regular basis?

I help my clients understand the 4 different types of eating, Fog Eating, Storm Eating, Fuel Eating, and Joy Eating, and how they are keeping them from releasing their body fat.

FUEL EATING this kind of eating gives your body the nutrients it needs. You consciously plan out what you will eat and know ahead of time what your meals will be. And you stick to your menus and don't have to worry about making bad decisions in the moment.

JOY EATING is when you eat something you love to eat and actually taste it. When you have your Joy Eat you want to pay attention to every bite, savor the taste & the texture – try moaning and slowly chewing to really get the full enjoyment from your food. This is usually one or two small treats per week. The rule with Joy Eating is that you must enjoy each bite.  You MUST plan your Joy Eats at least 24 hours ahead of time.

FOG EATING is when you are eating without paying attention, you don't even realize you are doing it.  Like eating a whole bag of chips while watching TV, usually without even tasting them.  You nibble on the leftovers as you clean up from dinner.  There is no joy or purpose to Fog Eating; it is an unconscious and we aren’t even aware we are doing. Fog Eating is something you never want to do, but commit to yourself to stop the minute you catch yourself eating behind your own back.

STORM EATING also known as Binge Eating is out of control eating. This is when you just can't stop yourself, you feel as if you cannot stop and cannot control your own impulses. This happens when you let yourself get too hungry or you are denying yourself in an effort to lose weight.  It can happened when you are overwhelmed or stressed, or have other emotions you don’t want to feel. After you Storm Eating you probably feel regret and shame. A lot of people hide when they Storm Eat.

Now that you understand these different types of eating it should be easy to see the best type is Fuel Eating.  You can have Joy Eats occasionally, but if you are in fat loss mode you want to keep these to a minimum or eliminate them all together until you get to your goal weight.  And you want to do your best to not FOG or STORM Eat.

The last 2 are the hardest, I know because I have been there.  Once I learned the tools to help me stop I was able to get the scale moving down.  If you would like to talk about the tools to help you sign up for a free call with me and I can help you start getting your scale moving down too.

Until next time, keep enjoying your journey
